We are very excited to welcome you to Somatic Explorations in Aikido! This one day seminar will explore how our nervous systems and body histories affect our individual and collective experience of Aikido training. This unique approach is derived primarily from the teachings of Richard Strozzi sensei and somatic coaching methodology. Practitioners will explore contact and connection in a depthful and precise manner, with an emphasis on emotion, feeling, embodied awareness, and practicing with a trauma informed lens. Thie seminar is open to all aikidoka from any style or lineage, from beginners to the most experienced.
Instructor Bio
T.T. Kooken (they/them) is a Shodan in Aikido. They work primarily as a somatic coach, bodyworker, and movement facilitator. A student of Brian Levy Sensei for a decade, they have also studied with Jan Nevelius Shihan, Jorma Lyly Sensei, and Richard Strozzi Sensei. They emphasize embodied awareness, interoception, mindful connection, and trauma informed practice in their work on and off the mats.
Date and Class Times
Sunday, December 3, 2023 at NOLA Aikido.
The mornings session will run from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
The afternoon sessions will run from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
We will eat lunch together, those who wish, at a nearby restaurant.
