We are excited to announce a special live-streamed Zoom seminar class taught by Sara Wang Sensei this Saturday at 12 pm CDT | 19:00 CET | 5 pm UTC!

Sara Wang Sensei (2nd Dan Aikikai) started aikido in 2006. She trains in Berlin under the instruction of Karl Ruben Sensei. Her main teachers are Endo Shihan, Jan Nevelius Shihan and Jorma Lyly Sensei. Sara Sensei works as a Chinese medicine practitioner, mindfulness and meditation teacher and has been teaching qigong for more than 20 years.

Her emphasis is on a clear, playful and soft form deriving from a fine perception of one’s own body and mind, the partnering uke, and the technique that arises in the moment between the two.

Seminar Description from Sara Sensei:

In addition to sharing some very pleasurable qigong exercises with you this Saturday, I would like to explore certain qigong movements, focusing on principles which might bring more awareness to our aikido practice. In this zoom session I would like to work especially with spiral movements and increased flexibility of the shoulders and the hips.

To achieve a higher level of technique in aikido, we need to be able to expand our awareness to include and hold more and more details. Qigong and meditation, being very still and reduced in movement, are wonderful ways to work directly with awareness, and the more we are aware, the more interesting and joyful the practice gets.

Register to receive the Zoom link for the seminar class.

The seminar is by donation, and all proceeds will go to support our work to bring this practice into the world.

Suggested donation: $20

Donate via Paypal: paypal.me/nolaaikido

(If that’s too much, pay whatever feels comfortable. If you’re feeling a financial squeeze just come to class.)

What to Bring to Class:

You can wear your keiko-gi or loose-fitting comfortable clothing.

We might do a short sitting meditation, so something to aid your comfort (e.g. a meditation cushion or a chair) is recommended. You might also want to bring a plastic bowl or plate for one of the exercises;))

Beginners are warmly welcome.

We look forward to practicing with you this Saturday!

Please share this email with any and all you think might like to attend.

Thank you!
