Seminar Title

Kihon Practice as the Foundation of Swordwork

Class Description

This class will include solo sword practice for both advanced practitioners and beginners with a focus on suburi and exercises to relax and align the body with the sword.

The exercises will be Kashima-related, but one doesn’t need experience in Kashima or any other classic ryūha. Some experience in Aikiken is fine.

There will be practice and also longer explanation/lecture.

If people are interested, Eriksson Sensei can also explain some key points of the first series „Kino Tachi“ – but only if the participants already practice Kashima forms. Otherwise it is too complicated online, and one hour is not enough time.

You can practice along with the exercises shown, but it is also fine to just watch if you do not have enough space at home or simply feel like observing.

What to Bring to Class

For practice you need at least one bokken. It is recommended to bring two, one lighter and one heavier. But just one is fine.

No keiko-gi is necessary, comfortable clothe are ok.

The seminar is by donation, and all proceeds will go to support our work as we continue to bring this practice into the world.
