Teaching for Mastery is a highly interactive workshop for teachers who want to learn evidence-based advances in pedagogy, neuroscience, and positive psychology. The practice of this material will enhance your students’ learning, motivation, memory, and progress toward mastery.

The Teaching for Mastery curriculum is relevant for teachers in classrooms, dojos, yoga studios, online settings, in outdoor education, or anywhere that you are communicating ideas and skills with others.

Participants will receive “takeaway” methods, exercises, and activities, for immediate application with students, clients, and  communities.

About the Instructor

With over 30-years as a teacher, school leader, and educational entrepreneur, Charles Colten is still awestruck and fascinated with the science and art of learning, teaching, and communication arts in general.

He has a Masters in the Arts of Educational Leadership from Columbia University, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education through the U.K.-based, International Centre for Educational Enhancement.

Charles Colten (5th Dan, Aikikai) has been studying Aikido since 1986 and is a direct student (Deshi) to Endo Seishiro Shihan. He continues his Aikido practice in Portland, Maine and has taught Aikido seminars in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Latin America.

With Teaching for Mastery, Charles combined two major streams of his life (Aikido and Education). He is also the founder of Aikido in the Schools, which is dedicated to bringing the physical, mental and emotional benefits of Aikido into public and private schools.

As an eternal student, he considers the study, practice, and sharing of Aikido as “his lens, his window, his mirror, his medicine…and an endless wellspring of knowledge, wisdom, and joy.”
