NOLA Aikido is overjoyed to welcome Seishiro Endo Shihan to New Orleans for a weekend seminar, November 2-4, 2018.  Endo Shihan, 8th Dan Aikikai Hombu Dojo and dojo-cho of Aikido Saku Dojo in Nagano, Japan, began studying Aikido under O Sensei, Morihei Ueshiba, at Hombu Dojo in 1967 as one of his last uchi deshi. Endo Shihan is well known for his gentle and dynamic, yet powerful Aikido. His Aikido has less focus on learning a large number of techniques and more of an emphasis on how to connect to your partner. Endo Shihan’s teaching looks at the use of energy and relaxation of the body, flexible movement and calmness of the mind at all times.

Note on lodging for out-of-town guests wishing to stay in Mandeville close to the seminar venue:   The best and most convenient hotel/motel is the Comfort Suites, located at the intersection of Interstate 12 and Louisiana Hwy 59, Mandeville, LA, 70471.  It is approximately 3.1 miles from the dojo, approximately 7 minutes driving time.  Rates run from $77 to $100, plus tax.

Note, however that the we will hold a seminar party Saturday night in New Orleans proper, and we will be sending more information about the party as well as a registration link for it soon.  It will be catered.

For those staying in Mandeville, our colleagues at Aikido Nord du Lac will be hosting a party at their dojo as well.  More details will be sent about this party in the coming month.

Note on lodging for out-of-town guests wishing to stay in New Orleans proper:  there are many great hotel and Air BnB options in New Orleans.  Please contact us with any questions, and we would be happy to help with any logistical or lodging questions you might have.  It is also possible to sleep in our dojo.

Note on transportation to seminar venue: carpooling will be provided by NOLA Aikido dojo members for out-of-town guests without rental cars between our dojo in central New Orleans and the seminar venue at Aikido Nord du Lac in Mandeville, LA, a 45 minute drive across beautiful Lake Pontchartrain.
