We are very excited to announce a live-streamed Zoom seminar class taught by Malory Graham Sensei on Saturday, June 26th at 12 pm CDT | 19:00 CET | 5 pm UTC!

Malory Graham Sensei, 6th Dan, Seattle Aikikai

Aikido & Yoga Instructor, Filmmaker, and Non-profit Strategist

Malory Graham Sensei holds the core belief that personal transformation happens through the body–move the body first and the mind will follow. She started aikido in 1988 and founded Seattle Aikikai as a not-for-profit dojo in 1997 and has been professionally teaching for the past 20 years. She received her 6th Dan from Y. Yamada Shihan in 2014.  She is a certified yoga instructor and offers yoga at her dojo as a core compliment to aikido. She continues to develop her own training with Yoko Okamoto and Chris Mulligan Senseis of Aikido Kyoto.  Along with teaching both aikido and yoga, she has had tandem careers as a filmmaker and non-profit Executive Director, running the film school for girls in Seattle, WA called Reel Grrls. She has made films to promote women in aikido and has been deeply committed to the social justice/youth development field.

“When you walk into a dojo you cross a threshold. You are walking into a space that is unique and special. You feel that you will find something in the dojo that was missing from your life — something that you have been looking for. My job as an instructor is to help facilitate that experience.”
– Malory Graham

Seminar Description

What is Unshakable in Your Aikido Practice?

If the pandemic has taught us anything it is that everything in our life is shakeable. What remains when we take away many of the core things we think we couldn’t do without? In this class we will explore what we have learned about our practice during the pandemic. What remains at the heart of our aikido practice when we take away many of those core things like training in a dojo and with a partner? Malory will share her 3 big take-aways during the pandemic and incorporate them into a lively class that will include some unique breathing warm-ups, increasing flexibility with the use of your jo and observing your intention on the mat.
