We are delighted to announce a live-streamed Zoom seminar class series taught by Jan Nevelius Shihan over three Saturdays – May 15, May 22, and June 5 – at 12 pm CDT | 19:00 CET | 5 pm UTC!
Jan Nevelius Shihan, 7th Dan Aikikai, is based at Vanadis Aikido Dojo in Stockholm, Sweden and has practiced Aikido for 45 years. His main teachers are Endo Shihan and Tissier Shihan. He has also trained with, and has been strongly influenced by, Osawa Shihan and Hermansson Shihan. Nevelius Sensei emphasizes connection, soft ukemi, and an approach to Aikido as never-ending research.
Seminar Series Theme: Kashima-Inspired Kenjutsu Work: Second Series, Ura Dachi (May 15 and 22); Aikido and Qigong: Connections (June 5)
Note: On May 29th there will be an Aikido Summer Seminar with Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan, Hideo Numata Shihan, Linda Holiday Shihan, Jan Nevelius Shihan, Kayla Feder Sensei, and Lia Suzuki Sensei.
For the bokken classes, there will be some suburi exercises, but mostly partnered exercises. Therefore, if you have a partner it’s better. If not, I am sure you will benefit anyway from studying the principles by yourself. We will look at some of the traditional katas from an open perspective.
And then for the third class we will explore some connections between Qigong and Aikido practice.
Mats Ahlin Sensei will assist.
Register to receive the Zoom link for the seminar class.
The seminar is by donation, and all proceeds will go to support Nevelius Shihan and NOLA Aikido as we continue to bring this practice into the world.
Suggested donation: $15-35 per class
Donate via Paypal: paypal.me/nolaaikido
(If that’s too much, pay whatever feels comfortable. If you’re feeling a financial squeeze just come to class.)
