Ulli Kubetzek Sensei Bio
Ulli Kubetzek Sensei, 6th dan, is founder and chief instructor of the Dojo Aikido Frankfurt, Germany.
He started Aikido in 1987 and has been running his dojo since 1990.
His main teachers have been Jean-Luc Subileau Sensei from Niort, France and Endo Seishiro Shihan, from Saku, Japan. It was through Endo Sensei that he met Jan Nevelius Shihan, among others, over 20 years ago, and he has a long-standing friendship and a mutual exchange with him.
Ulli Sensei has been teaching for over 30 years. For him it has become more and more clear that the basis of every Aikido technique is an understanding of the fundamentals of movement.
The same applies to weapons work.
Basics of Sword Work
Together we will explore these questions: How do we move the sword? What is the main task of each hand? How do we make cuts relaxed and effective at the same time? We will also explore some Aiki-Ken exercises for a deeper understanding of Aikido.
What to Bring to Class
A bokken and, if possible, a partner. Most exercises can be done alone, some would be good with a partner, but can also be practiced with an ‘invisible’ partner.
The seminar is equally suitable for both beginners and advanced students.
Register to receive the Zoom link for the seminar class.
The seminar is by donation, and all proceeds will go to support our work as we continue to bring this practice into the world.
Suggested donation: $15-35
(If that’s too much, pay whatever feels comfortable. If you’re feeling a financial squeeze just come to class.)
Beginners are warmly welcome.
We look forward to practicing with you on January 9th!
Please share this email with any and all you think might like to attend.
