We are delighted to announce a live-streamed Zoom seminar class taught by Jamie Zimron Sensei this Saturday, March 13th, at 12 pm CDT | 19:00 CET | 6 pm UTC!

Jamie Leno Zimron Sensei began training at Stanford University in 1976 and is an LPGA Golf Pro, Somatic Psychologist, Bodyworker, Corporate Speaker and Citizen’s Diplomat. Her teaching encompasses extensive training with Frank Doran and Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan, Rev. Koichi Barrish Sensei, and across many styles. She is a pioneer in women’s martial arts, and taking Aikido off the mat into holistic health, business, sports, peak performance and peacemaking.  Jamie Sensei founded the first-ever Women’s Aikido School, and guest instructs nationally and internationally. She is a co-founder of the Association of Women Martial Arts Instructors and Middle East Aikido Project. A longtime Aiki Extensions Board member, she has helped launch and guide Training Across Borders, PeaceCamp Initiative, Aikido in Ethiopia and Palestine, and the new AE Roundtables and Seed Grants Fund. For her many contributions through Aikido, in 2016 she received a national Award of Excellence and then 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award. During COVID she has co-founded Aikido Solstice Seminars, and is busy writing a comprehensive Aikido-based guidebook for life while conducting virtual Aikido, Centered Way and KiAi Golf talks and trainings.

Class Description

Body-Mind Fitness is crucial to Aikido, as it underlies healthy training while infusing our peak performance on the mat (and off!). This special seminar blends martial with fitness arts, making warms-up much more powerful, fun and effective as we reach into the inner energy body to unite with outer physical movement and technique. We’ll use both jo and bokken for workouts in the dojo or at home, and that kids love too. Then we’ll relate inner-to-outer mastery to better understand and amplify empty-handed and weapons work in Aikido.

What to Bring to Class

Wear gi or comfortable clothing, and bring a bokken, jo and open body and mind!

Techniques employ four qualities that reflect the nature of our world. Depending on the circumstance, you should be: hard as a diamond, flexible as a willow, smooth-flowing like water, or as empty as space.”  Morihei Ueshiba O’Sensei

The seminar is by donation, and all proceeds will go to support our work as we continue to bring this practice into the world.
