NOLA Aikido is delighted to welcome Jan Nevelius Shihan back to New Orleans in March! Jan Sensei is based at Vanadis Aikido Dojo in Stockholm, Sweden, and has practiced Aikido for over 30 years. His main teachers are Endo Shihan and Tissier Shihan. He has also trained with, and has been strongly influenced by, Osawa Shihan and Hermansson Shihan. He emphasizes connection, soft ukemi, and an approach to Aikido as never-ending research.

Due to the popularity of Nevelius Shihan’s seminars, we strongly recommend that you register now.

Note that when you register for the weekend seminar, you will also be asked to decide if you want to purchase the Saturday afternoon boxed lunch and/or the Saturday evening crawfish (and other non-seafood as well as vegetarian option) party in the dojo.

Also, for locals and those able to come to town earlier:

Wednesday, March 7th and Thursday, March 8th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at NOLA Aikido, Jan Shihan will teach jo/bokken classes (weapons provided by NOLA Aikido) for 3rd kyu and above and maximum 15 people per class.  Register now to reserve your spot!  (Just scroll down to find the sign up.)

Wednesday, March 7th and Thursday, March 8th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at NOLA Aikido, Nevelius Shihan will also teach two extra Aikido classes for all levels.  You can register in advance for these or just sign up and pay at the door. (Just scroll down to find the sign up.)

For out out-of-town guests NOLA Aikido is happy to help with accommodations with information about nearby B and B’s, hotels, and hostels as well as the possibility of staying in our dojo or with dojo members. Feel free to contact us for help with this or any other questions.

As in years past, we will also arrange carpooling from NOLA Aikido to Aikido Nord du Lac on Saturday and Sunday for all who need rides.  More info about this by email once you register.
